Act 1: Beauty Love Truth feat. Nico Brennan

Beauty Love Truth combines live music and heartfelt improv. Performing scenes inspired by original songs, the improvisers bring new meaning to the lyrics through tales of heartbreak, happiness and hope. This format was created by Louie Pearlman (New York City).

About Nico Brennan

Nico is a dynamically gifted singer who has been part of Canada’s professional music scene for over twenty years. The former lead-singer for Calgary’s critically acclaimed “Dino Martini’s”, Nico has emerged as a ukulele-playing singer-songwriter. Her song-writing style infuses a blend of folk, rock, pop, calypso, and Latin sensibilities with thoughtful lyrics and uplifting messages.  She is now the lead singer-songwriter for B4Peace, the host of Cornerstone Music Cafe’s “Sunday School Open Mic”, and a harmonious partner in Nico & Jeff. Her first EP, “The Dream Factory” was released to a sold out crowd in March 2019.

Act 2: The Sketchonauts feat. Short Form Players

The Sketchonauts are the sketch comedy division of the Kinkonauts – this time the content is scripted! Find out what happens when we plan our jokes in advance. It’s going to be a wild ride!

A double-header of two incredible duos!

Non Gratas (Toronto via Argentina & Puerto Rico)

Non Gratas is a latinx improv duo playing what they know best: melodrama and comedy. Patricia Tab (Second City HouseCo, Bad Dog Featured Players) and Mariela Pabon (Instagram sensation @checkinmela) have prepared a list of their favorite karaoke songs. All of them are Hispanic ballads they used to listen when kids. The feelings are so loud you don’t need to speak the language to get them. Those songs are the fuel to improvise characters and approach topics like cultural shock, the intersection between romantic love and womanhood, and the general absurdity of life.

Non Gratas have performed in festivals across Canada including Mprov (Montreal) and the Vancouver International Improv Festival.

Brotha Brotha (Minneapolis – St. Paul)

Brotha Brotha (Denzel Belin and John Gebretatose) is a Twin Cities-based improv duo. Fast. Hilarious. Inspired. Indescribable tbh. And aside from being Black this is NOTHING like 90s TV show Sister, Sister.

Part of the world-class HUGE improv theatre, Brotha Brotha has also performed in improv festivals across the United States, including the Boston Improv Festival and the New Orleans Improv Festival.

Online sales end at 6pm the day of the show. Walk up tickets available for $18. Doors open at 7pm.

Headliner: Blackout Improv (Minneapolis – St. Paul)

Blackout Improv (Denzel Belin, Alexis Camille, Ashawnti Sakina Ford, John Gebretatose & Kory LaQuess Pullam) is a mix of comedy, social justice, and arts access. We seek to put more Black performers on more stages, to create comedic dialogue around serious truths, and to provide improv access for Black people around the world. Blackout is changing the face of comedy stages.

“Swag Hat” is Blackout’s signature format where audience writes topics on a piece of paper before the show for the cast to use as inspiration to talk about. Blackout regularly takes on subjects like race, gender and police brutality, among other things, all the while hoping that laughter can help people in the audience find common ground. We hope.

Featuring a very special opening act: Motion from Edmonton, Alberta!

Motion is a fast-paced, high energy movement based show that explores directed scenes through a specific physical motion. Sometimes sexy, usually funny, always sweaty. WHAT MOVES YOU?

Online sales end at 6pm the day of the show. Walk up tickets will be available at the door for $18. Doors open at 7pm.
